He ain't freaky, he's my brother

Halloween is silly season around our house - or maybe it's fairer to say that Halloween is an especially silly season around our house. For instance, one evening Anna came into my office looking like this:

And things got even stranger when she smiled:

A couple days later, our girl was sporting a new look, at her school's Halloween parade:

The first graders study the Day of the Dead in Mexico, and this is their version of the traditional skeleton costumes. Can you say a skeleton is cute? I'm going to take a chance and say it: Our little skeleton was simply adorable.

Maria, meanwhile, had gone thoroughly modern with her costume, which required a yeoman's effort from Chelsea as our resident seamstress:

Somehow I don't have a picture yet of Nick in his costume, but he did have a go at Anna's getup, and it came out looking like a zombie Steve Urkel:
